Privacy
Wingview has no ads and no analytics. What it knows about your trips stays on your phone, except as set out here.
Only on your phone
- Boarding passes, sealed with a key that never leaves your phone's keystore, and left out of backups and your account.
- Your mailbox password and your flight data key, sealed the same way. Your mail is read straight from your phone, only to find flight bookings.
- Where you are, only if you allow it: your phone's rough location for the weather shown in the app, rounded to about 10 km first, and its GPS to follow a flight you're on.
- The paths your flights flew, your updates, and crash reports (kept until you send or dismiss them).
In your account, if you sign in
Your flights (times, seat, booking reference, notes, and the gate, terminal and belt), your Passport and your settings, kept with Google's Firebase so your devices share them. Never your boarding passes, passwords or keys. Deleting your account deletes this copy.
A flight you share as a link
When you share a flight's live link, its number, route, times, gates, terminal, belt, status, aircraft and where it is go to wingview.live, where anyone with the link can see them. Never your name, seat or booking reference. You can stop sharing at any time, and the link is deleted a day after the flight lands.
Services Wingview asks
- Your flight data service: the flight numbers and dates you follow, for their times, gates and status.
- adsb.lol, a community ADS-B network: an aircraft's callsign or registration, to find where it is. Nothing about you.
- Open-Meteo and the Aviation Weather Center: an airport's location or code for its weather and air quality, and your rough location (rounded to about 10 km) if you allow it, for the weather and the air where you are.
- Planespotters.net and NASA: an aircraft's registration for its photo, and a date for the picture of the Earth's cloud.
- Your Wear OS watch: your next flights and their alerts, over the link between your phone and watch, when Wingview is on the watch.
- Google ML Kit reads barcodes and text on your phone; it sends Google diagnostics about how it ran, not your documents.
Taking it with you, or away
Back up all your flights or export your Passport as a spreadsheet from the app. Remove a flight and it goes from your phone (and your account). Uninstalling Wingview removes everything on your phone.
